National Real Estate Investor Magazine Names Welfont to 52nd Largest Real Estate Brokerage By Transaction Volume

Tampa, FL, August 16, 2018

The Welfont Companies based out of Tampa, Florida, was just named 52nd largest commercial real estate brokerage in the country, by transaction volume. According to Dun & Bradstreet there are approximately 35,000 commercial real estate brokerages in the U.S. so making the top 100, let alone, #52 is a highly coveted achievement.

Also on that list were such titans of commercial real estate as CBRE, JLL, Newmark Knight Frank, Colliers International, Marcus & Millichap, Remax Commercial, Avison Young and others. Welfont’s CEO, Shawn Marcell said, “When we think of where we were just three years ago when no one knew us, and now today, we rank in the top 100 of all real estate brokerages for transaction volume, at number 52, it’s mind-blowing and truly humbling.”

With an impressive 3-year growth rate of 11,359%, Welfont also became the fastest growing real estate brokerage, not only in the country, but in the history of the INC 5000, surpassing this year’s second fastest growing brokerage by a margin of nearly 4,000%. That performance also placed them at #16 of the fastest growing companies of any kind, in America, out of a field of an estimated 30,000,000 U.S. based companies.

While CBRE topped the NREI list at just over $300 billion in revenue, it was founded in 1906, and has well over a hundred year head start on Welfont. By contrast, Welfont started their brokerage services in 2015, and did over $150,000,000 of transaction volume in 2017 with revenues topping $14,000,000.

When asked about managing their meteoric growth, Dr. Surowiec, Welfont’s CFO said, Managing all the changes in a company with our growth rate, was one of our biggest challenges. You’re constantly tweaking the business model and therefore redesigning processes, systems, and methods; constantly redirecting and improving workflow while still operating with both the old and new programs in place. There isn't a piece of software out there specifically designed to do what and how we do it, so we customized what we had and made it work.”

Another member of Welfont’s Leadership Team, Mattias Graff, Senior Vice President with an MBA from Georgetown, says, “Out of a field of some 35,000 commercial real estate brokerages, Welfont made the top 0.2% on the list. We work with all the top brokerages in the country. They see us as collaborative partners rather than competitors, so we get a lot more deals done that way and it has propelled us to the top sector in the industry.
